Soon the leaves will start turning yellow, temperatures will drop, and long pants will be back on. It won’t be long before we open this year's recruitment round for our winter positions. We are looking for staff of all ages who can work full-time, part-time, and occasionally. So, if you are curious about us, start putting together your resume and drafting your cover letter, and maybe we’ll be colleagues this winter!

Welcome!
What do we do during summer?
What happens when the slopes are closed?
A lot!
In the past week, all our rails and boxes in the junior parks have been given a "lift." They have been sanded, painted, and of course, adjusted if needed.
We have also replaced the roof on our beautiful entrance to the Ski Lodge, and out on the mountains, we have started the annual maintenance of our lifts. We are also busy planning for the upcoming season with activities and other fun things.

Take the skibus to Romme Alpin
The slopes and their name..
On our piste map, you have noted 34 names of these slopes, but do you have any idea why the slopes are named the way they are? At Romme Alpin, all slopes have a story and a purpose - everything from tributes to colleagues and events to clever functions and stories. Did you know, for example, that Tallbacken is dominated by substantial seed pines that have been saved. The young pine forest will become a very beautiful part of the ski area when it is allowed to grow up.
You can read all about it here ( note in Swedish )
Make a MITT ROMME account
Do you want to see how many rides you do in a day and the number of meters of altitude, see your upcoming bookings and receive smart notifications during your visit? Then register in MY ROMME.
It is free of charge to create a MY ROMME account and is a convenient way to collect your Romme experiences. Here, for example, your SkiPass number is saved so you can easily recharge new ski days. You can also collect the whole family in the same family account.
The app we had before has been removed, so if you had an account via the "mitt romme app" before, you just use your old details and log into MITT ROMME via rommealpin.se.
If you want a quick icon on your phone, you will be asked via your Android phone. Via iPhone, you must choose to save the icon on the home screen yourself.
MITT ROMME is under development and our ambition is that in the coming seasons there will be more exciting functions.

The lift will go from Romme Dal, directly up to the top of Snöberget. It will be the longest chairlift in Sweden, but the ride time will only be about 6 minutes.
We just finished pulling the approximately 5 km long lift rope on all lift poles and now we are starting to assemble the first chairs. Hope you are looking forward to the 22/23 season as much as we are!

Take the ski bus for a daytrip or a weekend
A daytrip or a weekend?
Do an early start, get on the bus in the morning and be out on the mountains before 10.00. Enjoy a day on the slopes and be home just in time for dinner! Our ski bus concept is much appreciated by families with children, groups of friends and individual travelers.
The price includes both bus travel and SkiPass, but if you already have a SkiPass, you can only book the trip itself.
We have bus trips every weekend from several places in Central Sweden. During the holidays, some of the buses run a little more frequently.
If you want more skiing, Björcks Resor offers a weekend solution from Nykvarn / Södertälje / Stockholm / Västerås where you spend the night in central Borlänge. They have seats avaliable 26/2, 4/3 and 5/3. Read more about their offer here.
If you want to read more about our day trips and see our entire range, you can find it at www.rommealpin.se/en/skidbuss. Welcome!
Everyone on ski!
Regardless of functional variation - we help you!
You know that we here at Romme Alpin have one of Sweden's largest adaptive ski schools?
Our instructors are completely convinced that everyone can go - so come and try. They offer great passion and take you safely down the slopes. We offer both sitting and standing skiing.
Our equipment comes from Tessier and we have both skicart, snowcard and biski. You can buy individual lessons or full days. You can also ride yourself with your companion if you have a certificate of safe driving. If you do not have one, we offer a three-hour course. Welcome!
The first hour
One of our best recommendation is to be at Romme Alpin early and enjoy the first hour of the day. It is AMAZING! Untouched slopes, hopefully a sunrise that dazzles, creaks under the skis and lots of beautiful rides.
We promise that you will enjoy and you will also have time to do so many rides undisturbed.
In the morning, park at Götes steep and take Götes Express directly up to the top of Solklinten. It's perfect to do so now that your SkiPass is already preloaded! So set the clock, get up and jump. We wish you nice days on the slopes!
Nice days in the slopes
It's really nice on the slopes. It is also really quiet on weekdays so if you want to go a lot, now is the time to take the chance.
It is also a good time to book a ski school for yourself, your children or the whole family. What do you want to get better at? Go fast, go snowboarding, maybe try telemark or just dare to go skiing?
Do not hesitate to contact the ski school if you have questions or concerns! They are awesome!
Enjoy a lot of skiing

If you have questions or concerns, our booking is open all summer, but with limited opening hours.
Thank you!
We would like to give you a big THANK YOU for this season. A different season in many aspects. An invisible virus that has made us create several new solutions to make this season work. For example, limited the number of visiting guests, pre-booked SkiPasses and less people in the restaurants. The weather also played us some tricks before Christmas, and we had to postpone the season with two weeks. And lastly, an amazing winter that encouraged us to make the decision to extend the season with one week.
And now, here we are. Our last day. We made it, and we made it good together with you. Thank you. have a lovely summer, hope to see you next winter again!
Last week of the season
The final week is here and we are proud to offer great sking. We still have a snow depth of 85 cm and the cold temperatures at night make the surface last long into the afternoon. If you like snow and winter as much as we do. Now is the time to enjoy it!

"Fastlane" to the top
We have a few well kept secrets here at Romme Alpin. One on them is how to get the most of your day in the slopes, especially on the weekends. Many years of experience has told us the following:
1. Be here early. Be ready to catch the lift directly at 9am. You will have almost 90 minutes of empty slopes and no que.
( a good advise here is to take Götes Express to the top, it you have your Skipass ready )
2. Take an early break. A fika or lunch around 10.30.
3. Ski between 11.00-13.00 and then take a late lunch ( maybe around 13.30 ish). At mid day all the restaurants are the most busiest. be smart and enjoy the slopes instead. You will get so much out of it.
Have you triet TELEMARK?
Skiing with free heel - telemark, began to develop as early as the 19th century in Norway. In the 1980s and 1990s, the sport had its heyday, which was then a relatively large competitive sport. Over the years, they have competed in the disciplines giant slalom, sprint and sprint classic. Telemark is also one of the disciplines in some freestyle competitions. Today, telemark is not a big sport, but more and more people are gradually starting to practice the sport again with the new NTN system that has arrived. Which means a completely new binding and boot with trigger system. Here at Romme Alpin, we have invested in a number of new equipment that can be rented. Try it - it's fun and a new challenge. If you want help, contact our instructors from the ski school. Some with a competition background from the above disciplines.
Telemark tips:
• Distance Feet
- 1 foot between each foot
- Think of knees - heels
Load heel - toe
- Just like in alpine skiing, we strive for as straight an outer leg as possible
• Hips
- Remember to use the hip when you want to increase your edge angle
• The position
- We want the upper body quite compact but with a striving forward
- Remember, just like in alpine skiing, to bring out arms and hands
- A small counter-rotation is good to avoid a cord and that it spins around.
Times flies
It is already February, time really flies. For more then week now, we have experienced amazing winterdays. It has been, and still is, really cold, the sun has been glittering and the nature is fabulous. All the trees are dressed white and the slopes are groomed perfectly. Our weekends get fully booked fast, so if you have not Pre-booked your SkiPass, please come on a weekday. You will have plenty of space on the hills, no lines and just great skiing. You will be surprised how little guests we have.

Today we also got a new delivery of our small and cute Rommi figures. They will have a lovely vacay here in Koppslahyttan before they hopefully move home to you.
Towards a new season
We are in the middle of the month of May and in the slopes we still have some snow and a lots of wood anemones. The contrasts are so pretty.
A couple of months ago we ended a very differed and odd season, but now we are aiming even more toward the next.
At the moment lots of work is going on at the resort. We are renovating our lifts, creating menus and ski school groups. We will start accepting reservations in a couple of weeks.
There are many things happening behind the scenes, during summer, with the goal to make your experience even better.
Romme Alpin is closing.
Sunday, March 29th, will be the last day for skiing this season at Romme Alpin. Romme Alpin has decided to shut down the resort due to the overall Covid-19 situation in Sweden and our location.
Every ski resort is different. One of Romme Alpins advantages is its geographical placement, only 220 km from Stockholm and its suburban areas. It is easy to make a daytrip to Romme Alpin, which, at this point, is a disadvantage.
New guests travel to the resort daily. The Resorts contains beyond skiing of a hotel, 7 restaurants, ski rental and lack any kind of private housing with self-catering.
By taking this decision, we aim to reduce the risks of spreading Covid-19 further.
- This is not an easy decision to make and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused to our guests who was looking forward visiting us and maybe celebrate Easter, says Bo Funcke, CEO Romme Alpin.
- This decision also affects the ones that keeps Romme Alpin to operate, our staff.
All guests that have a reservation made will be contacted by our staff for more information.
Bo Funcke, CEO Romme Alpin
One of the best ski schools in Sweden!
We are proud to have one of the best instructors at our ski school. Many of them are highly educated and have been on skis or snowboard for many years.
They can help you achieve your goals within skiing, snowboarding, telemark or adaptive skiing. Doesn't matter if you are a kid, an adult, a beginner or an advanced skier. We are happy to welcome you.
If you would like to know more about our ski school, read here or send them an email: skidskola@rommealpin.se
You can book group lesson directly at our website.
Our new park is open
Finally, our new Junior park in Mattas Gröna at Romme Nord is open. This park is a little bit challenging than Calles Kurvor.
It has a blue line with seven rails, one jump and a bunch of more fun features.
Welcome and try it!
Let´s celebrate together Rommi´s birthday!
Our own mascot, Rommi the penguin, celebrates his birthday every Wednesday. He loves to ski with kids and to eat waffles. The best way to celebrate is to throw him a party; a Waffle Feast!
Rommi wants to invite all children whom are 4 to 9 years old and can ski by themselves (brake and turn) and know how to take the chairlift. The meeting is at 2:30 PM right in front of the big ski school sign (“Skidskola”) in the beginners’ area. Rommi, together with several ski instructors, will greet the children who will take part and the party can get started!
Altogether they will take the chairlift Solklinten Express to the top, and then Rommi will lead the way down the slopes until they reach the Waffle House (Våffelstuga) where the waffles will be awaiting for them. When the waffles are finished and the party is over, everybody skis down the long slope that takes them back to the meeting point.
Come and have fun with us and eat waffles with Rommi and the ski school!
Quick tip: there are only 20 spots each week, so be quick to book your spot at the Ski Lodge Reception.
Winter is here
We are now experience a period with cold and nice weather. We have managed to create a lot of snow. So, today, we will re-open Bos, Sydhanget and Diagonalen. Yesterday we opend Götes Brant and Ravinen. Really good news!
During next week we will be able to open even more. We believe that almost every slope will be open next weekend (March 6-8).
Welcome!
Adaptive Skiing: EVERYBODY is welcome to ski at Romme Alpin!
Did you know we have adaptive skiing at Romme Alpin? Thanks to our gear and our qualified instructors everyone can feel the rush of skiing down the slopes. We believe in skiing and that it should be fun and available for everyone who has the will and is interested in it.
We have a biski, a sitski and a Snowcart; all from the French brand Tessier. We also have different aids for the upright skier who needs extra support.
With both our biski and sitski you can ski independently or, if not possible, you can be helped by a support skier behind you whom will help you to turn and brake. The support skier can be one of our instructors or you can rent the gear and you can be supported by a parent or an assistant. To be able to rent the gear, you need to be in possession of a certificate which grants that you can utilize the gear in a safe and secure manner. If you don´t have a certificate, you have the possibility of taking a 3 hour course and by certified by us.
Welcome to us!
/Lina Bergström
Calles Kurvor 2020
The funslope Calles kurvor is open with velodrome curves, jumps, boxes and rails. We have build some blue rails in Calles because of the snowvcondtions in Mattas Gröna (which was supposed to be a blue park this year).
At this moment there is a really good opportunity to find and challenge your own level of riding in Calles Kurvor.
Our mini park - Rommilandet is open with constant change of line with boxes, snow waves and slalom track, which gives the opportunity for a fun and challenging ride to the whole family.
Remember to respect other riders, staff who works with the park and closed jumps and boxes. Keep in mind to wear a helmet and HAVE FUN!!
We are making snow
It looks like we have some cold days ahead of us. This means that we will be making snow to improve the surface in part of our slopes.
This winter we take every chance we get. The temperatures has been really tricky.
Today (26/2) is, for example, Götes Brant and Mattas Gröna temporarily closed due to snow making.
At Romme today you can read about the status in our slopes.
Useful tips!
1. Pre-book your equipment via rommealpin.se.
Your gear will be ready to pick up om arrival. The ski rental opens at 8 am. Choose the doors marked "FÖRBOKAT".
2. Charge your SkiPass online and go straight to the lift.
If you have a SkiPass from the brand Axess you can easily buy days via our website or through the MITT ROMME-app.
3. Be early and ready.
Stand in the lift line at 9.00 and enjoy the first ride of the day!
Looking good!
I took a few runs in the slopes this morning. It was amazing! The piste was well prepared - the night shift does a great job!
Today, it was sunny and blue skies - looks like we will have the same weather, tomorrow, Monday! At the moment we have 22 slopes and 12 lifts open.
Looks like we might have some minus degrees and snow(!) in the coming week.
I really recommend you to pre- book your equipment and SkiPass. You can do it really easy online - until 6am upon arrival day. Just follow the steps here.
Welcome
//Linda
A good start
A day on the slopes is certainly going to be a good one. But how can you make a good day even better? Starting with a good cup of coffee, of course!
Even before the slopes open at 9:00 AM, there are various restaurants that can serve you a cup of the delicious hot beverage at Romme Alpin. The Värmestuga, where guests can change into their ski clothes, serves freshly brewed coffee from 8:30 AM. For a quick bite, you´ll find cinnamon buns and sandwiches. Since at Romme Alpin we take the issue of food waste very seriously, some days you may even find sandwiches from the day before offered at half price - a great opportunity to be environmentally friendly while also saving some money!
On the other side of the snow-free square you will find the Café, which opens to the public at 8:30 AM. If you´re craving something more exclusive than regular coffee, the Café is the place to go. Espresso, cappuccino, latte - now even offered with vanilla or caramel syrup - are on the barista menu. Not a coffee drinker but looking for something special? Try the tea latte! At the Café you can also find a smaller breakfast buffet, on top of the wide selection of sweets, of course.
Now that you have refueled you have definitely given your perfect day a good start! Enjoy the slopes and have a fantastic day at Romme Alpin!
Magic carpet!
One thing that many wonder about is how to manage the different lifts at a ski resort. If you are very young or new to the sport, we really recomment to try our magic carpets in the beginners area.
They are perfect for the first tries. Stand still on the band, relax and ride uphill. Just let the band push you off.
This is very convenient and a great way of taking those first steps learning how to ski without struggeling with a plattern lift, for example. You learn how to find your balance on your skis or snowboard.
We have three magic carpets in different lenghts. Start with the short one. When you feel comfortable, try the longer one.
If you need more help skiing, try our ski school. They know exactly how to help you.
Extra departures to Romme Alpin
The coming two weeks (8 and 9) we add on departures from several swedish cities.
Take the bus early - arrive when the lift is opening - ski the whole day - and be back home at dinnertime. It is so easy and convenient.
Both bus ticket and SkiPass is included in the price. You can bring your own equipment or rent from our ski rental.
Read more about it here.
Lovely days
We have had a couple of amazing days on the mountains. The weather has varied, but, the snow that we created in the beginning of this week was really helpful and has created a perfect surface in our slopes.
At the moment we have 24 open slopes and all lifts. Our snow-making- team is ready in case temperatures falls again. It would be lovely to open more slopes further ahead.

Lovely cold
After a few days of nice cold we have now switched off the snow system. The cold days are rare during this winter, but our snow team is always ready to run the system when the temperature drops. All to improve the surface and be able to open more slopes.
We have been running the snow system for a number of days and now we are working fully to prepare the slopes. Already today we have opened some of the slopes that have been temporarily closed. The piste machines works fast and more open slopes will be added tomorrow and this weekend we expect to have all lifts and 24 slopes open again. The surface is hard and friendly.
Now that we are facing the first week of swedish sports holiday, we want to take the opportunity to advise on pre-booking both SkiPass, ski school and equipment. This is done quick and easily via our online booking.
We also want to inform you that on Thursday-Sunday week 7 there are a few rooms left at Ski Lodge if you want a nice weekend.
Welcome!
Warm winter but a lot of snow
We are experience a very mild start of the year. We assume that a lot of you guys wonder if it is possible to ski at Romme Alpin. The answer is off course – YES!
During November and December we managed to create a lot of snow despite quite high temperatures. We also had some cold days around Christmas which allowed us to start the snow system again. At New Years we had 27 out of 33 slopes open and all the lifts.
During these last two weeks, strong winds and plus temperatures has made us close two of the slopes (which we opened with a little too low snow depth). The snow in these slopes will now be used to improve the nearby slopes.
Overall we are comfortable and very happy to offer great skiing opportunitues for many more weeks ahead. But, it is winter, so we hope and wish for more snow and cold days! Welcome.
Our funslopes!
If you like to have fun while skiing and you're in for jumps, boxes and a little challenge you will have to visit our Junior snow parks on Romme Nord. In the slopes called Calles Kurvor we offer creative and fun skiing opportunities for the whole family on a green slope level. Here you will also find Rommilandet - our minipark.
As soon as we get some more snow and nice cold temperatures we will open up a blue snow park in the slope Mattas Gröna.
Adaptive Ski School
We love to share our passion to all of you! Our ski school welcomes all skiers, including guests with permanent disabilities.
We can accommodate guests with various kinds of disabilities, including the vision impaired, motor impaired, amputees or guests with multiple disabilities. In short, all riders who need special support and can therefore not take part in traditional ski lessons.
If you are interested, contact funktionell@rommealpin.se or read more here.
Merry Christmas
The last few days we have had incredibly nice slopes, great good piste and a surface that lasts very well all day.
Yesterday it was cooler in the morning which made us have magical manchester in the morning. Hope it lasts. The south side with the Sydhanget and Hällas Hang is absolutely fantastic. You must try these runs!
The lower part of Calles Kurvor very fun with boxes and rails. It is actually completely finished for the season. The upper part is also open, but as usual hill until we can fix the whole fun-slope.
Our Beginner area is also up and running. There is a lot of space here, perfect for the first tries!
I wish you a Merry Christmas!
Greetings Karolina Carlsdotter, Ski School Manager, Romme Alpin

Our slopes has a story
All of our slopes has a name that means something. It's a tribute to a person who has done good things or things that have happened.
For example, in the beginning of the 1900 a lot of mining work was made in Flintgruvan, which the slope Gruvvägen passing next too.
And during 1986 when plans were made for a new unnamed slope, a moose, came running over the area and imagine if you would crash into that moose when you ski? That slope is now named Älgkyssen. Älg = moose in swedish.
During this past winter this almost happened. Have you sen Abdulbari's video? https://www.freeride.se/video/62389/
Luckely everything went fine.
Scandinavian Renault Meeting 2019
The Scandinavian Renault Meeting will visit us during the weekend June 28-30th.

Ski School in Stockholm Nov 10th-11th
Romme Alpin will be hosting Ski School during the Wintershow fair (November 10th-11th) in Kungsträdgården, Stockholm. We will build a small slope in the middle of Kungsträdgården during this weekend and practice ski school for kids 4-9 years old. Every 30 minutes a new class will begin. It is free of charge and we have equipment to borrow. Note! We cannot guarantee that we have all the sizes and lenght all the time.

How to build a slope.
Among the criteria that are fundamental when it comes to the slopes at Romme Alpin there are fall line, variation, experience and structure. When we will open for the 2018/19 season, there will be 33 slopes for you to ski on. Ever wondered how a slope is built? This is how we do it here at Romme Alpin:
For several months Bo Funcke, CEO of Romme Alpin, takes long walks up and down the prospective slope. In his backpack he carries barricade tape in various colours, measuring instruments and one of the many maps he works with on a daily basis.
- I dedicate a lot of time to a new slope. The whole process begins in my head a few years before I even start sketching a potential outline for a slope. There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. For example, what degree of difficulty I want that slope to have, in relation to the possibilities that the mountain naturally offers. When I get to the drawing board, I usually sketch different options considering the map's height curves, rocks and water streams. The most important thing is to find the fall line, so that the slope will offer a comfortable and smooth ride. This can easily be done just by looking at a map, but the reality is different. It is only when I go up on the mountain and start walking the area that I can definitely decide whether there is the actual possibility to build a slope where I had planned it.
As a former orienteering athlete, Bo navigates the forest smoothly. He is trained at reading maps and can easily apply the information to the reality. The first step in the creation of a new slope is to mark the centre of the slope, the centre line. You mark the outline by tying the red and white striped tape on the trees about every 15 metres. The you proceed marking the outer edges of the slope on both sides in the same way.
- When the centre line is marked and after it has been adjusted a few times, I can start measuring the planned width of the slope. If I then see that it is not possible to follow my original planning, I go back and do some more adjusting to the measurements. The most important thing is that I always follow the fall line, in order to avoid creating a slope that lies obliquely. I am also very careful to select to keep the right trees on the sides of the slope. The best ones are bushy firs with branches all the way down the trunk. They reduce the risk of accidents and give a much nicer feel to the place than the long and straight pines.
Bo's explorations and tree markings go on for several months; making adjustment after adjustment. In the end the number of ribbons of barricade tape marking the future slope's center line, outer edges and tree trunks amounts to over 300.
- Sometimes our guests may get the impressions that we forgot to remove some trees in the process, but all our 260 groves are planned to be where they are, and they are there for a reason. If there are trees in the middle of our slopes, our customers need to be aware of them. You cannot just go as fast as you can on every slope. If there's a tree you need to slow down and adjust your speed. Besides, the groves give the whole slope experience a further dimension.
Bo stresses several times upon the importance of creating experiences, that the slopes should be both exciting and engaging. For example, you should not be able to see where the slope ends when you're up at the start. Furthermore, you should get a new view around every corner or behind every grove. You should be able to glide down going from side to side without problems and even change slope without having to scream “Out of the way!!”
- The fall line is oftentimes not straight and therefore the slopes need to naturally bend. I have spent so much time designing the curves because I want our ski resort to be well designed. This is a choice that draws inspiration from the many visits I took to ski resorts in the United States. I have been skiing there many times myself and there are many resorts there where I believe they have succeeded in creating a true skiing experience, which is also my goal for Romme Alpin. Having a variety of different slopes, you have the opportunity to get a new skiing experience at every ride. So, you are not forced to only ski down the same slope the whole day.
Building a slope following all of Bo's criteria takes, as you may have guessed, quite some time. Once all the striped tapes are tied around all the right spots, the clearing of the forest begins, and all the materials are in some way reused. The logs and sticks are used for burning, while the stumps, roots and rocks will be used as filling materials. Since the terrain is inaccessible, it is not possible to get soil or other construction materials delivered.
Therefore, the slopes are made with the materials found in nature. At this point we're about five years away from the first sketches on the map done by Bo in the first stages of the planning of a new slope. When the land preparation job is completed, all the piping for the snow cannons are hauled, put into place and the underground water drainage system is completed. If required, lift stations and pillars are built. It is only then that we are finally ready for the cold and the snow to come.
It is getting colder.
The summer has ended and you can almost feel that winter is on it way. It shifted really fast. In the northers parts of Dalarna and Norrland the first snow has already fallen.
On our mountains the preparation is on full speed. The snowguns are being prepared to start working in November if the temperatures are right.
The Ski Lodges´ rooms are being cleaned, the restaurant is creating tasty menus and the the new pistemaps are being drawned. You are aware that we are opening two new blacked marked slopes and a new 6-Chair Expresslift this season?!
It will be an awesome winter season and if you want to be part of it, we are now making the final recruiting for this season. Read all about it here

Update on the mountain
Well, as promised. Here is an update from the mountain.
We are now dismantle the old 2-chair lift. It has been at our service for 20 years. But now it is being replaced by our fifth 6-chair Expresslift.
The top of Solklinten will be a new gathering point, bringing Solklinten Express, Syd Express and Toppstugan much closer together. It will improve the access to these areas.
The two new slopes will be in the same category as Götes Brant. It looks good, right?!
New pistemap
You may already know that we are building 2 new slopes and one new lift. Everything is planned to be ready to our opening.
Here is a glimpse of the new pistemap. Hopefully we can show you some more of the progress on the mountain very shortly. We have said it earlier, and will say it many times again - it will be an awesome winter!
But for now - enjoy the summer!
We are now building the new slopes
It is summer and we are working on the seasonal news for next season. We have a team up working on the mountain creating the two new slopes. They are putting together pipes for the snow system and the final adjustments in the slopes vertical drop is made. It is going to be awesome this coming winter!
New looks!
